Master key systems aren’t only for offices and hotels. A house with a detached garage, a workshop and a few outbuildings can run on one system: your key opens every door, and a child’s or a sitter’s key opens only the front door.
The point is control over who can open what, with fewer keys on the ring. Each lock keeps its own key, and the master opens them all.
Landlords and property managers use the same setup across several properties: one key for the owner, and a key for each tenant that opens only their own door.
Whether it’s one room the kids shouldn’t get into or a dozen rental units you’d rather not carry keys for, a master key plan keeps it simple without loosening security.
We set up residential master key systems across the Lehigh Valley, from Easton to Kutztown. We start by listing which doors each person should be able to open.
How a home master key system is set up
Each lock is pinned so that two different keys can turn it: its own key and the master. The locks stay where they are in most cases, provided they’re the same brand and in good condition.
For landlords, a common layout is one master for the owner and one key per unit for tenants. When a tenant moves out, only that unit is rekeyed and the master still works.
Call (484) 891-1922 to talk it through. We’ll explain our pricing structure before any locks are touched.
