Toyota Key Replacement in the Lehigh Valley

Toyota keys are some of the most common ones we make. Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Tacoma, Highlander, Prius, Sienna: we carry keys and fobs for most of them and cut them at your car. See the full list of makes on our car key replacement page.

You don’t need a tow to the dealer. A locksmith comes to your driveway or parking spot with everything on board.

Many newer Toyota vehicles use a high-security key. The blade is flat on the edges and has a track milled into each side. It takes a specialized cutter to make one.

That cutter is in our van, next to the programmer that pairs a key or smart fob to the car. Cutting and programming happen in the same visit.

Lost or Stolen Toyota Keys

Most Toyotas since the late 1990s have an immobilizer. A chip in the key answers the car with a code, and the engine stays off if the code is wrong. When every key is lost, we cut a new one from the lock or key code and register its chip with the car.

We can erase the old keys in the process. A lost or stolen key then won’t start the car. If you want it locked out of the doors as well, we rekey the locks by changing the wafers.

Broken Toyota Keys

Toyota keys often crack at the plastic head, and the chip inside can fall out. If the car cranks and won’t start after a key breaks, a lost chip is the usual reason. Bring all the pieces and we’ll copy the blade and check the chip.

If part of the blade is still in the ignition or the door, we remove it on site.

Then we cut the new key from the pieces or from the lock.

Call (484) 891-1922 with the year, make and model of your Toyota for pricing and availability. We’ll give an estimated arrival time, with no extra charge for an emergency.

Smart Keys and Push-Button Start

A lot of current Toyotas don’t use a blade to start at all.

If you drive a Corolla, a Camry, a RAV4 or another model with push-button start, the fob has to be programmed to the car and its hidden emergency blade has to be cut.

We do both. If only the remote buttons have stopped working, read our key fob replacement page first. We come to your Toyota wherever it’s parked in the Lehigh Valley. Our service area page lists each town.

Toyota Keys: Quick Answers

Does a Toyota key cost more at night?

No. Our pricing structure is the same during all hours of operation, and there is no additional fee for emergencies.

My Toyota fob only works up close. Does it need replacing?

Usually that is a weak battery, so start there. If a new battery changes nothing, see our key fob replacement page.

Do you stand behind the Toyota keys you make?

Yes. The parts carry a guarantee against factory defects, and the work is guaranteed against faulty craftsmanship.

Which key does my Toyota take?

Toyota changed chip types twice in the last twenty years, and the trim decides whether you have a blade key or a push-button smart key. The pattern for the models we see most:

  • Camry: 2007 to 2017, L, LE and SE use a remote-head key (the chip changed from 4D-67 to G in 2012 and to H in 2015); XLE, XSE and Hybrid use a smart key. 2018 on, L and LE use a flip key; SE and above use a smart key.
  • Corolla: 2009 to 2019, a remote-head key on most trims (H chip from 2014), with a smart key on the upper trims from 2014. 2020 on, L and LE use a flip key; SE, XLE and Hybrid use a smart key.
  • RAV4: 2006 to 2018, a remote-head key on LE and XLE; Limited and Hybrid use a smart key from 2013. 2019 on, LE uses a flip key, everything above it uses a smart key.
  • Tacoma: 2005 to 2015, a chip key with a remote. 2016 on, SR and SR5 use a remote-head key; TRD and Limited use a smart key.
  • Tundra: 2007 to 2017, a chip key with a remote. 2018 on, the upper trims use a smart key.
  • Highlander: smart key on Limited and Hybrid from 2008, on most trims from 2014, on every trim from 2020.
  • Prius: a smart key on every model year.

Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we confirm which one you have on the phone.

See the Toyota rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.

I lost every key to my Toyota. Can you still make one?

Yes. All-keys-lost on a Toyota is done at the car, including the smart-key models. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.

Do you program the Toyota push-button smart key?

Yes. We carry the smart keys for the Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Highlander, Tacoma and Prius and register them to the car where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you still have a working key.

Does a Toyota dealer have to make the key?

Almost never. The Toyotas we see every week, including the H-chip keys on the newer models, are done on site. On the newest model years we confirm on the phone before we drive. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
