Traditional key cutting equipment can no longer be used for new Peterbilt vehicles with their new keys. The keys no longer have the traditional cuts on the top and bottoms like the traditional keys. The cuts are now precision milled from the outer edge of the key, forming a track the internal components of your truck’s locks use to allow the lock to turn with that key. As a result, the new keys can no longer be made with traditional key cutting equipment. It must now be made with a special high security key cutting machine that can only make the correct and proper cuts. To better assist our customers, our automotive locksmith vehicles now come with the proper cutters and key programmers to replace your truck keys.

Lost/stolen Car Key Replacement

If the key to your truck was lost or stolen, we always have replacement keys in stock and are ready to replace that missing car key. Most Peterbilt models made after 1998 now come with a built in extra layer of security called the immobilizer. This allows your truck to communicate with a special chip that has been inserted inside your car key when it was made. The key will need to respond with a recognized code in the truck, or they truck will not start even if the key turns in the ignition.

If you have lost your key, there are many steps we can take to help reassure no one will be able to use your lost or stolen truck key. When programming in the new truck key, we are able to erase the old key which prevents anyone from being able to take your truck if they have found the key.  To prevent the truck from even turning in the door locks, we can change the wafers inside the door locks as well.
