Newer vehicles of Scion now need high security key cutting machines to properly make the keys. Traditional key cutting equipment can no longer be used because the newer keys do not have the cuts on the top and bottom like the traditional keys. The new keys require cuts that are precision milled from the outer edge of the key forming a track the internal components of your car’s locks use to allow the lock to turn with that key.  Most of our automotive locksmith vehicles now come fully equipped with the proper cutters and key programs necessary to replace your car keys.

Lost/stolen Car Key Replacement

If the key to your car was lost or stolen, we always have replacement keys in stock and are ready to replace that missing car key. Most Scion models made after 1998 now come with a built in extra layer of security called the immobilizer. This allows your car to communicate with a special chip that has been inserted inside your car key when it was made. The key will need to respond with a recognized code in the car, or they car will not start even if the key turns in the ignition.

If your key is lost or stolen, we are able to erase that key when we program in the new key. This will prevent anyone from being able to take your car if they have that key. To prevent the lost key from being able to turn in the door locks, we can change the wafers inside the door locks as well for an extra layer of security.

If possible, please refrain from throwing out your broken key components to your Scion key if you are in need of a replacement key. We are able to use the broken components of the key to find out the correct cuts for your replacement car key.
