Hyundai Key Replacement at Your Car

We make Hyundai keys where the car is parked. Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson and Accent owners call us for lost keys and for fobs that have quit. It’s a regular part of our car key replacement work in the Lehigh Valley.

The first thing we ask is the year and model, because Hyundai keys vary more than most.

Some Hyundais with a turn-key ignition use a key with no chip at all. Others have a transponder chip, and push-button models use a smart key. We check which yours is before we cut anything.

Many newer Hyundai blades are laser cut, with the pattern milled into the side of the blade. A regular key machine can’t follow that pattern.

Our van carries a high-security cutter for those blades and a programmer for the chip and smart keys.

That means one visit, at your home or wherever the car ended up.

Lost or Stolen Hyundai Keys

Losing the only key is the most common Hyundai call we get. We make the new key from the car, using the lock or the key code for the cuts.

If your Hyundai has an immobilizer, the key’s chip has to be programmed to the car before the engine will start. If it doesn’t, a correctly cut key is all it takes.

On immobilizer models we can also remove a lost or stolen key from the car’s memory. For cars without one, rekeying the locks and ignition does the same job mechanically.

Broken Hyundai Keys

Keep a broken key. The cuts are still readable, and we transfer them to a new blade.

Flip keys and remote head keys usually break at the plastic, not the metal. If the electronics still work, tell us, since that can change what needs replacing.

We’ll ask to see a driver’s license and a registration, title or insurance card for the car. Every key we make gets that check.

Call (484) 891-1922 and give us the year, make and model. With that we can tell you pricing and availability for your Hyundai and an estimated time of arrival. Wherever your Hyundai is in the Lehigh Valley, we bring the key to you. Browse the towns we serve.

Which Hyundai Models We Cover

Here are the Hyundai models that come up most on our calls. Not listed? The year and model are all we need to check.

Models

Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Santa Fe, Tucson, Kona, Palisade, Veloster, Genesis, Azera and Venue.

What we’ll ask you

The year, make and model, where the car is parked, and whether you still have a working key. With those we can give you pricing and availability on the same call. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.

Hyundai Keys: Quick Answers

Does a Hyundai key cost more at night?

No. Our pricing structure is the same during all hours of operation, and there is no additional fee for emergencies.

My Hyundai fob only works up close. Does it need replacing?

Usually that is a weak battery, so start there. If a new battery changes nothing, see our key fob replacement page.

Do you stand behind the Hyundai keys you make?

Yes. The parts carry a guarantee against factory defects, and the work is guaranteed against faulty craftsmanship.

Which key does my Hyundai take?

On a Hyundai the trim decides more than the year: the base trim usually got a flip key or a key with a remote while the Limited got the push-button smart key. The pattern for the Hyundais we see most:

  • Sonata: 2011 to 2014, GLS uses a chip key with a separate remote; SE, Limited and Hybrid use a smart key. 2015 to 2017, SE uses a flip key; Sport, Limited and Hybrid use a smart key. 2018 on, a smart key on most trims.
  • Elantra: 2011 to 2016, GLS and SE use a chip key with a remote; Limited uses a smart key. 2017 to 2020, SE uses a key with a remote; Value, Limited and Sport use a smart key. 2021 on, SEL and above use a smart key.
  • Santa Fe: 2013 to 2018, the base Sport uses a flip key; Limited and Ultimate use a smart key. 2019 on, SE uses a flip key and SEL and above use a smart key.
  • Tucson: 2016 to 2021, SE uses a flip key; Value, SEL and Limited use a smart key. 2022 on, SE uses a flip key and SEL and above use a smart key.
  • Kona and Palisade: a smart key on every trim except the base Kona SE.

Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we confirm which one you have on the phone.

See the Hyundai rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.

I lost every key to my Hyundai. Can you still make one?

Yes. All-keys-lost on a Hyundai is done at the car, including the smart-key models. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.

Do you program the Hyundai push-button smart key?

Yes. We carry the smart keys for the Sonata, Elantra, Santa Fe and Tucson and register them to the car where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you still have a working key.

Does a Hyundai dealer have to make the key?

No. Hyundai is one of the makes we handle completely on site, flip keys and smart keys both. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
