Most Peterbilt keys are plain metal keys, cut to a code. Some newer trucks have a chip in the key that the truck checks before it starts, and that chip has to be programmed. We’ll sort that out by phone.
Lost or Stolen Peterbilt Keys
If the key is lost, we get the cuts from the ignition or door lock, or from the key code, and cut a new key on site. We’ll ask for a license plus registration, or for company trucks, proof that you’re authorized.
If the key was stolen, we rekey the ignition and door locks so the old key no longer works. On trucks with an immobilizer the stolen key can also be erased electronically.
