Everyone forgets their keys from time to time and there is almost no way to get through adulthood without locking your keys in your car once or twice. It’s just the way of the world. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few ways to keep your memory fresh.
Take a look at a few ways to make sure your memory is in tip top shape.
1. Get in a routine: If you go about putting your keys or wallet in the same place every time you get home from work, or make sure your keys go in your purse as soon as you take them out of the ignition in your car, you’re more likely to remember to do it more often. Repetition makes for good habits.
2. Focus: It sounds simple, but if you can direct your attention to something for at least ten seconds, you are more likely to remember it. It’s when we almost get into too much of a routine that we can forget things.
3. Exercise: Not only will your waistline thank you, but your brain will be much more likely to remember with regular exercise.
4. Get a good night’s sleep: We all know that groggy feeling after not sleeping enough. A lack of sleep also contributes to a bad memory. Get those eight hours in!
5. Play brain games: Your smartphone isn’t just for surfing Facebook. There are numerous apps designed to stimulate brain activity that can help you remember where you put your keys last night.
If any of these fail, don’t forget to contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith when you do lock your keys in your car. We’ll remember to come to you in a jiffy!

Just your friendly reminder that while many things in our daily lives may be in a bit of a flux, to say the least, due to the current worldwide pandemic, it’s back to school time again. This means that you should start to take extra precautions as school buses and increased traffic due to students being back.
While many schools have opted for alternative scheduling, assume that every day will be a regular “school day” for the average motorist until this coming spring when school is over.
We wish all Lehigh Valley students the best of luck this year.
Be safe on the roads!

Changing your locks isn’t something people consider all of the time. However, there are some instances where it’s a good idea to give 24/7 Emergency Locksmith a call for more information on this service.
Here are three times it’s a good idea to change the locks on your home.
You Just Bought a Previously Lived-in Home: We all want to trust people and we all want to give the benefit of the doubt, but, let’s be honest, it’s best to start fresh. If you are buying a home in which someone has lived before, it’s a fantastic idea not only to get all of the keys from them, but to rekey the entire home.
You Bought a Brand New Home: So, instead of buying a home from someone who has lived there for awhile, you just bought a home that was just built. No worries about keys, right? Wrong. Even though it’s a new home, there are still people who have had access to keys to your home including contractors and real estate agents. You’re always better off rekeying.
Someone Has Moved Out: No matter the trust level you have with a person, if they move out of your home after having access to keys to your home, it’s time to rekey that home. Your friends may have the best intentions, but if you don’t know where your keys are heading, you have to take care of yourself.
Thankfully, 24/7 Emergency Locksmith is able to help you with changing your home locks immediately!
Call us at (484) 891-1922 and let’s get started.

The need for a locksmith can be an unwelcome and/or irritating situation. From locking yourself out of your car, losing the keys to your office building, or simply changing the locks to your new home, the moments that it takes to call a locksmith can be stressful enough as it is, and can be done in a time of panic, worry, or stress.
But when that time arises, there are some people who will try to scam your hard earned money at a when you’re most vulnerable and perhaps don’t have the best knowledge of what is going on.
1. Find a locksmith ahead of time. The BBB and other reliable sources like Yelp and Facebook reviews can assure you that you have a real company to call if you find yourself in trouble. Just save the contact in your phone and you’ll have the info available immediately.
Avoid companies that don’t answer the phone with a specific business name. If someone just says the phrase “locksmith services” or something to that affect but won’t give an actual company name, chances are they’re not legitimate.
2. Ask for ID and written proof of a company with a name, address, and other items like website, telephone number, and even a company email. Also be aware of what the person arrives in. Most companies have a van or vehicle with the company name and logo displayed on it.
3. If it isn’t an immediate matter, get an estimate on legitimate company letterhead paper or from a company email. An email that is @gmail, @yahoo, @aol etc. is a big red flag. This estimate should include not just the lock cost, but also mileage and other additional charges that may be included in the final cost.
4. While PA doesn’t, there are 14 states that require locksmiths to be licensed. Those states are: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Maryland hasn’t yet implemented it yet, although they have now adopted this law. So if you are in one of these states, ask for that too.
5. If they say the lock needs to be drilled, especially if they have given little to no effort to open the lock prior, go with someone else. Not only does a professional locksmith know how to open almost any lock, but drilling is much more expensive and damaging to the surrounding frame of the lock.

Summer in the Lehigh Valley doesn’t seem like it wants to cool down, but fall is officially here and that does change things a bit when it comes to your driving habits.
We may not often take the time to think about it, but the changing of seasons should also coincide with with a change in how we approach the road. Let’s take a look at five tips that can help you as fall arrives.
According to the National Safety Council, while just 25 percent of our driving is at night, 50 percent of traffic deaths occur then. It also gets darker earlier during the fall.
This almost goes without saying, but kids will be walking home from school or the bus during the fall. That’s a big change from the summer, so be prepared to look out for them in crosswalks or pretty much anywhere else.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, drivers are 3.5 times more likely to hit an animal, especially a deer, during November than any other month of the year. Stay alert.
Water doesn’t evaporate as quickly during the fall. Couple that with fallen leaves and roads, especially bridges, get much more slippery than usual. Be careful when breaking.
The fall is a great time to get your tires rotated, or just looked at in general. You will rely on them much more in the fall and winter months than in the spring and summer.

The Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area has pretty safe parking garages and large lots, however, it’s always smart to be safe and to take a few tips with you along the way.
Here are a few tips on parking safe in Lehigh Valley parking garages.
This is easier now than ever with smartphones being so prevalent. Simply jot down where you parked in a note app or text to yourself, or better yet, take a picture of where you are to make sure you don’t waste time walking around the garage.
Don’t text or check your phone as your own the way in or out of a parking garage. You want to make sure you not only remember where you park, but you also want to keep your eyes or ears open for things that may be going on around you, especially at night.
While the odds of being attacked in a Lehigh Valley parking garage are statistically slim, you always want to be prepared. Carrying your keys in your hand not only allows you to access your car much easier, but it also gives you a weapon if you need one. This goes the same for any sort of self defense device you may carry with you, such as pepper spray. Those type of devices don’t do much if they are stuck at the bottom of your pocket or purse.
Be safe when you’re out no matter where you park and, as always, contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith if you encounter a lockout situation. We’ll get you back on the road quickly.
