Five Fantastic Fall Drives in the Lehigh Valley

The Lehigh Valley is home to some really incredible views. If you’re interested in hopping in your car and just heading out to drive, there isn’t a shortage of beautiful places to head to. Here are some of our favorites.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie is home to some of the best autumn views not only in the Lehigh Valley, but probably all of the northeast. It’s a favorite spot for winter sports, but it might be at it’s best during the fall months.

Hawk Mountain is one of those locations you truly need to see with your own eyes to believe. It’s worth a long Saturday to head there for the views during the fall.

The Lehigh Lookout is at the top of South Mountain in Bethlehem and overlooks most of the city. In fact, you might be able to see all of it if you squint hard enough.

Let the tractor do the driving when you visit Unangst Farm in Bath. Their pumpkin patch is one of the nicest you’ll find anywhere!

Anywhere along the Delaware River up or down Route 611 is bound to be one of the best drives you have all autumn long. Head out there and enjoy yourself.

Wherever your path takes you this fall, know that you can call on 24/7 Emergency Locksmith for all of your locksmith needs!

Get Your Car Ready for Fall

Fall finally feels like it’s coming to the Lehigh Valley and that means it’s a good time to do a little bit of car maintenance before the really cold weather hits.

Here are a few tips from 24/7 Emergency Locksmith to keep your car in tip top shape through the autumn months. A lot of these may seem like common sense, but a reminder never hurts.

Check your lights
You’ll be using your headlights a lot more during the fall, which is all the more reason to make sure they are working. Don’t stop there, though. Check all of your vehicle’s lights since they are all the more important with shorter days on the horizon.

Replace your wiper blades
Rain, leaves, snow, check. Your wiper blades are going to be getting more work during the fall, be sure to replace blades that show a little wear on them.

Check all of your fluids
Yep, check ’em all. There’s never a bad time to make sure your oil and windshield wiper fluid levels are topped off, but fall is a good place to start. Break out the dipstick and make sure you’re filled up.

Check your batterybr>
Is there a worse feeling than your car not starting because your battery died? It’s not a bad idea to have a technician check your battery to make sure that it’s still up to snuff for the coming winter, especially if it’s a few years old.

Get a wash or detail
Did we just tell you to go get your car detailed? Yep. But, even if you don’t want to spend the money on a full detail, even a good wash is a nice way to spot potential problems in your vehicle.

Fall in the Lehigh Valley is always a beautiful time. Make sure that you keep it fun by having your car at its best. And, of course, call us at 24/7 Emergency Locksmith for all of your locksmith needs.

Keeping Track Of Your Keys

Having a designated location for your keys when they are not in use can help to minimize the amount of time you spend searching for them. It is easy to lose your keys, especially when you set them down just about anywhere when not in use. If you lose your keys more than you would like to admit, setting up a one stop drop is key to keeping track of your keys.

At 24/7 Emergency Locksmith, we know how easy it is to misplace your keys, which is why we can make you a spare or replacement when your keys go missing and never reappear. But hopefully you can figure out a way to keep track of your keys before we are needed. In this blog we will give your some creative ideas on creating a designated key space.

Keep It Close

The minute you walk in your home, you should be able to set your keys down, this way you don’t carry them through your home and set them down somewhere else. Your designated key spot should be right inside the door, whether it is on the table, a hook, or somewhere else. Find a place close to your front door or garage door (whichever one you use most) and create your designated key spot.

Hooks

There are many different types of key holders that you can make or buy that use hooks for a simple way to store your keys. These hook spots can have places to store mail and other items as well or could be solely for your keys. If you have a tendency to leave items scattered throughout the house, a key hook that can hold your purse, sunglasses, and other items could be beneficial.

Magnets

To add some unique style to your key holder, find a magnetic board that can hold your keys with no hooks involved. Make sure your key chain isn’t too heavy and causes the magnet to not hold very well.

Bowl

If you have a table near your door, you can place a decorative bowl on it and use it to hold your keys. This is a good solution if your are the only one with keys; if there are multiple keys in the bowl you will have to sort through them every morning.

Cubbies

A great way to keep all of your stuff together and separate it from your family members’ items is to make cubbies for everyone. These cubbies could have hooks for keys, coats, and purses, and offer space for items like sunglasses, wallets, and whatever else you need to bring with your daily.

These are a few of the creative and easy ways to help keep track of your keys and keep your home a little more organized. But if you do happen to lose your keys, contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith today. We can help make you new keys.

Five Fall Driving Tips

Summer in the Lehigh Valley doesn’t seem like it wants to cool down, but fall is officially here and that does change things a bit when it comes to your driving habits.

We may not often take the time to think about it, but the changing of seasons should also coincide with with a change in how we approach the road. Let’s take a look at five tips that can help you as fall arrives.

1. Be Wary of the Dark

According to the National Safety Council, while just 25 percent of our driving is at night, 50 percent of traffic deaths occur then. It also gets darker earlier during the fall.

2. Watch Out For Kids

This almost goes without saying, but kids will be walking home from school or the bus during the fall. That’s a big change from the summer, so be prepared to look out for them in crosswalks or pretty much anywhere else.

3. Watch Out For Deer

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, drivers are 3.5 times more likely to hit an animal, especially a deer, during November than any other month of the year. Stay alert.

4. Roads Get Slippery

Water doesn’t evaporate as quickly during the fall. Couple that with fallen leaves and roads, especially bridges, get much more slippery than usual. Be careful when breaking.

5. Take Your Car in for Service

The fall is a great time to get your tires rotated, or just looked at in general. You will rely on them much more in the fall and winter months than in the spring and summer.

Be sure to contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith for any of your lockout, keys, or locksmith needs!

Four Tips for Taking Care of Your Keys

Our car and house keys are one of the most important things that we carry with us each day, but we may not give them the proper respect that they deserve.

Here are a few tips on how to properly take care of your keys and get the most out of them over the long haul.

1. Security

Car keys are one of the first things that a burglar will target in someone’s house. Do you have a safe place to store them that isn’t inside a basket or on a hook in the front door? It’s a good idea to keep them in the same place each and every night. Not only will it make it harder for you to forget them, but you’ll also have peace of mind knowing that they are safe.

2. Got a Spare?

Having a spare key is a great idea, and one that some people tend not to undertake. Have a spare key hidden somewhere on your property that isn’t under a flowerpot in your front yard. Also, it’s smart to give a spare key to a relative or loved one if you are locked out or if an emergency arises.

3. Take a Look

Keys may seem sturdy, and most are, but they can easily bend or break like anything that’s used on a daily basis. If you notice a bit of a bend on your keys or they aren’t turning like they used to, it’s time to give us a call.

4. Did We Mention Security?

Treat your keys like you do your wallet. Make sure that they aren’t visible when you go out and make sure that you keep them in a safe and secure place on your person. If you do know that your keys have been stolen or lost, we’re here for you. Contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith.

Places To Look For Your Car Keys

Losing car keys is something that we all do, some of us more than others. And we generally misplace them in locations that we often visit in our homes, but in places where keys don’t belong. Like the refrigerator, for instance.

Search your entire home, retrace your steps, and if you still can’t find your car keys, give 24/7 Emergency Locksmith a call. We can cut you a new key and have you on your way in no time. If you do happen to lose your keys, and you know they are somewhere around your home, these are the places you should look.

The Fridge

We mentioned this location above, because it is a very common place to misplace things. Have you ever been out of it and accidentally put the cereal away in the refrigerator and the milk in the pantry? This can easily happen with your car keys too. You get home from a long day at work and go straight to the fridge for your favorite beverage and you put your keys in it’s place. It is simple to do, so be sure to check your fridge.

Bathroom

Maybe you are driving home as quickly as possible because you need to use the bathroom. You run in your home without putting anything down and head straight for the bathroom. You keys may end up in the sink, on the floor, in a drawer, on a pile of magazines, or maybe even in the toilet, but let’s hope that never happens.

Your Car

When you get home from a busy day, collecting all of your things takes focus and hands, you may turn your car off and put the keys on the dashboard, in the center console, on the passenger seat, or you may even just leave them in the ignition. It happens, so be sure to search your car.

Every Pocket

Check pockets. Even if you don’t remember wearing a coat, or putting your keys in the pocket of your pants, or the tiny pocket in your purse, there is a chance your keys are in one of these trinket holders. Be sure to dig into every pocket you can find and be sure to empty your purse.

First Stop After Leaving The Car

If the first thing you do when you get home is feed the dogs, check inside the bag of dog food. Hopefully you find it before they eat it. If the first thing you do is go through the kitchen drawers to find your letter opener for you mail, check in those drawers and possibly in your mailbox.

Be sure to check throughout your entire home and car and surrounding areas and anywhere else you may have been from the time you got out of the car until now. And if you still can’t locate your keys, contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith. We can come to you and cut a new key in no time.
