Watch Video of a Locksmith Picking this Vintage Lock

We’ve posted videos from the YouTube Account, LockPickingLawyer, because of how fantastically well done they are.

They are also insanely interesting!

In some of the videos he posts, LockPickingLawer helps consumers make better shopping decisions when it comes to locks and safes by exposing some of their potential security flaws.

And some, like this video, which you can watch by click this link or the picture above, we get a look at a lock from years past!

Take a look.

The Best Lehigh Valley Restaurants To Lock Your Keys In Your Car at This Summer

First off, this article is meant to be a little more lighthearted than some of our others. Of course, we never wish for anyone to lock their keys in their car, however, if you’re going to do so, here are some of the best spots in the Lehigh Valley to lock your keys in your car at!

Sette Luna

This Easton restaurant has some of the best patio seating in the whole Lehigh Valley. Their cuisine isn’t so bad, either.

Porters’ Pub

Also in Easton, Porters’ was voted as the Best Bar in the Lehigh Valley by LehighValleyLive.com. Even though it’s a small pub, it still has some amazing dishes and specials.

The Bayou

We wouldn’t mind spending some extra time at The Bayou in Bethlehem! They have, in our opinion, some of the best fried chicken you’ll find anywhere.

Tapas on Main

Located in downtown Bethlehem, Tapas has some of the most well-populated outdoor seating throughout the spring and summer months.

The Dime

At the center of Allentown, and above the PPL Center, The Dime is one of the most unique spots to dine in the whole Lehigh Valley.

Of course, we don’t actually want you to get locked out at any of these restaurants, however, if you do, please be sure to

How to Open Your High School Combination Lock

While we can’t physically help you get into your school locker, we can give you a few tips if you find yourself in a bind.

– Remember your combination. This seems pretty obvious because it is. Memorize it and keep that combination somewhere safe just in case you can’t find it, but don’t leave it anywhere someone else could get it from you!

– Spin the dial a few times to clear it out. You want to “reset” the lock before you go ahead and attempt your combination.

– Turn the dial on the lock to the right until you get to the first number. Then turn it to the left, pass the second number in your combination, then stop on it the second time around.

– Rotate the lock back to the right until you get to your third number and then pull firmly on the handle to open the lock.

– If it doesn’t open, don’t worry. Combination locks can be finicky, so you may have to try it again. If you DO find that you cannot get into your locker, be sure to let someone know so you’re 1. not late for class and 2. able to get what you need.

While we definitely wish we could help you out, we are confident that you’ll be able to open your locker by following these simple tips!

How to Fix a Sticky Door Lock with a Pencil

Hey, we understand that not every single lock situation requires you to call 24/7 Emergency Locksmith. There are a few situations where you can help yourself out a little bit before looking to call us. Of course, if you’re ever not sure about a lock situation or don’t feel comfortable handling it yourself, please, do not hesitate to call us at any time of day or not.

A sticky lock, or a regular door lock that doesn’t turn easily, can always be a pain. Thankfully, fixing it by following the most common method isn’t that difficult.

1. Simply squirt a little powdered graphite into the lock. You can find these at any home improvement or automotive store.
2. Put the key into the lock and turn it a few times to distribute the graphite.
3. Your lock should be back to normal.

You can also get lead from a soft pencil and put it on the key, (it’s made of graphite) and then do the same thing with the key in the door lock. Just be sure that it is made of graphite.

If you find yourself with a serious lockout situation, be sure to call us at (484) 891-1922.

Where to Park and How to Be Safe at Celtic Classic in Bethlehem, PA

Celtic Classic rolls into Bethlehem every fall with kilts, the Highland Games, classic food, and tasty whiskey. And while the event is one of the most relaxed and enjoyable that you will find in the Lehigh Valley throughout the year, parking and being safe is always something that you should be aware of.

Taking the dedicated shuttle into the fest is never a bad idea. It can be found at 1525 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, PA during festival operating hours.

As far as parking, you can always scour the immediate area for open metered parking (if you’re very lucky) or park at some of the paid lots that will open up on private properties. Know that if you do decide to park at a private lot, you’re going to be parking at your own risk. While many of these impromptu paid parking lots are in safe places and you shouldn’t encounter any problems, know that the owners aren’t obligated to look out for your safety.

City parking details include the New and Walnut Street Parking garages and the W. Union lot:
– 75 W. North Street parking garage – 2 blocks from Celtic Classic – $10.00 pr day (subject to change)
– 33 W. Walnut Street parking garage – 1 ½ blocks from Celtic Classic – $10.00 pr day (subject to change)
– West Union Boulevard parking lot – less than 1 block from Celtic Classic – $10.00 pr day (subject to change)

All of these parking locations are safe, but be sure to practice basic parking routines such as remember exactly where you parked in a deck, even if that means taking a picture or writing a note on your phone. While Celtic Classic is generally considered a very safe event, leaving at night from a private or public lot can always have its risks. Be sure to travel in groups back to your car if possible and have your phone or defense device out if you’re going back to your vehicle by yourself.

And, remember, if you encounter yourself in a lock out situation, 24/7 Emergency Locksmith is on call whenever you need us and we’ll be there in minutes flat: (484) 891-1922. Enjoy Celtic Classic!

Tips for Waiting by Your Car in the Lehigh Valley

Cars and Coffee in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
24/7 Emergency Locksmith will be onsite to help you with your emergency lockout situation usually in minutes, which is important when it’s late at night or you’re in an area you’re not familiar with.

And while we are dedicated to getting to you in the Lehigh Valley quickly, we also want to share some tips on how to wait by your car safely whether it’s for a few minutes or a few hours.

Look for a Safe Location

Your car may not be the safest location for you to wait for a locksmith or a tow truck, if your situation is a bit more serious. Gas stations, restaurants, and open stores are good places to safely wait for help to arrive.

Don’t Accept Rides from Strangers After You’ve Made Your Emergency Call

If you already have help on the way, and they know where you are, the most important thing to do is to stay in that location and wait for them to arrive. Accepting a ride from a stranger to go somewhere else won’t be helpful.

Tell Trusted People What Your Plan Is

After you’ve made arrangements for help, be sure to also call a family member or friend and let them know what is going on. Tell them where you are, share your GPS location with them even, and tell them what company you called for help.

As always, call 24/7 Emergency Locksmith at (484) 891-1922 and we will be there in a few minutes to help you with your lockout needs. If you need more serious assistance, always dial 911.

Where to Park During Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Musikfest is the most attended free music festival in the country and that means it can sometimes be a pain to get parking.

Thankfully, with a little bit of planning, you hopefully won’t have to drive around forever. Here are a few suggestions on where to park or what to look for before you venture down to Musikfest!

If You Drive All the Way In

If you decide to drive into downtown Bethlehem for Musikfest, you’ll want to look for some private lots first. Many private lots are owned by churches or local companies and are usually pretty safe spots as there are people there for most of the day. These usually cost anywhere from $5 to $20 for the day. You may want to try one of them first because the closer you get to downtown Bethlehem, the harder it can be to find parking.

If you must go into the heart of Musikfest, you may want to consider buying a new ParkPlatz Pass that allows you to park on Moravian College’s South Campus. These are sold on a first come first served basis and are ONLY available in advance.

If you don’t want to do that, you can take your chances with the Walnut Street and/or New Street parking garages. Be warned that getting a spot there will be tough and leaving can be tougher.

If You Don’t Drive All the Way In

Musikfest list numerous options for satellite parking for their shuttle bus service provided by TransBridge Bus Lines.

You can refer to their rather extensive list on their website and plan ahead!

Uber It Up

Last but not least, if you want to take Uber or Lyft, you’ll find more than a few drivers available at all hours of the day and night in and around Musikfest. Uber and Lyft can be life savers, but be sure to take precautions and always match up your driver with the driver listed on your app.

No matter how you get into Musikfest, we hope to see you there. Be safe!

And, as always, if you find yourself in a lockout situation, 24 Emergency Locksmith will be there day or night to help you out/

Prevent Keyless Car Theft in the Lehigh Valley with a Microwave?

More and more people open their cars with a key fob via keyless lock entry. It’s almost second nature at this point. Think about it, when is the last time you’ve physically opened your car door with a car key?

For some, it may still be the way that they do get into their vehicles, however, for many it’s a thing of the past.

And while that ease of use makes your life a bit less hectic, it has also created a situation where thieves have begun using the same technology to get inside your car. By using relay amplifiers, some thieves are able to “hack” into your key fob and then use that signal to get into your car.

And while this isn’t a widely reported problem in the Lehigh Valley, it is still something that car owners should be aware of and should at least know how to prevent against.

Here are some tips to prevent car break-ins or theft via keyless thieves:

Key Your Key Fob behind metal

Thieves can’t use their fancy amplifiers effectively if your key fob is hidden behind something metal or inside something like a microwave. Get creative!

Park in a garage

Sure, this is obvious, but if they can’t get at the car, it doesn’t matter what they are using to try to break into it.

Use old methods

Remember The Club? There is still something to be said for “old-school” theft deterrent methods.

Increase home security

Using home security systems with cameras is a great way to deter thieves who are attempting to get at signal from your key fob.

Again, while this isn’t a widely reported Lehigh Valley phenomenon just yet, we want to be sure that you are aware of it and know how to guard against it!
