Be Safe During Trick or Treat in the Lehigh Valley

From Emmaus to Easton, Halloween is coming to the Lehigh Valley and trick-or-treaters will be out and about throughout the towns. Here are a few tips to stay safe!

Since this time of year also coincides with earlier sunsets, it’s important to take a minute and remember to be cautious while driving this time of year.

  • Be sure to get some reflective tape for your child’s trick-or-treat bag or costume. It’s an easy way to be seen and won’t take away from the aesthetic.
  • Traveling in groups is smart. There’s safety in numbers, but remember to bring an adult.
  • When driving, be sure to come to a full and complete stop at all stop signs. I think it’s safe to say we’ve all rolled through a stop sign in our day. When kids see a stop sign, they expect cars to stop.
  • Be sure to balance some of that candy with some healthy snacks as well!

Be safe out there, Lehigh Valley

A locksmith in Edinburgh locked himself out of his shop the other day and the irony wasn’t lost on passerby, especially those with cameras.

EdinburghLive shared the unfortunate story caught on camera and shared throughout social media.

In a dramatic turn, a Timpson store on Nicolson Street – who offer locksmith services – had themselves become locked out and were need of their own kind of assistance.

The lunchtime drama caught the attention of quick-witted passersby in the Southside, who were more than happy to snap photos of a locksmith having to force their way into the shop.Taking to social media Stevie Cumming, said: “You couldn’t make this up… Timpsons on Nicolson Street locked themselves out the shop.”

Stevie told Edinburgh Live he’s not sure how staff became locked out in the first place but said there was “lots of laughing”.

Don’t Be Scared of Being Locked Out on Halloween in the Lehigh Valley!

Halloween is almost here and that means there are about 100 different Trick-or-Treat times in the Lehigh Valley. From Hellertown to Allentown to Freemansburg and Easton, the Halloween season will be full of little ghouls and ghosts visiting homes in all of our neighborhoods.

We wanted to share some quick Halloween driving tips before all of the candy treasure hunts begin!

1. Use your headlights.
Fall in the Lehigh Valley means that sunset comes way sooner than a month ago. Put those lights on.

2. Don’t drive distracted.
Listen. We all have our phones in our cars. It’s time to learn how to use them responsibly. Don’t handle your phone while driving.

3. Turn the radio down.
A lot of people make fun of “turning the radio down to find an address” but it actually has a root in science. Our brains handle all of the stimuli it receives. So, if we turn down the radio, it allows us to focus!

4. Drive slower than the posted speed limit.
In residential areas especially. There is no reason to drive fast.

5. Don’t pass other cars stopped in the street.
If we see a car in the street, we’re inclined to drive around it. This time of year, it’s smart to take that maneuver a little bit slower.

6. Communicate with other drivers.
Put your road rage away for a month. Just do it.

7. Designate a sober driver or arrange a taxi if you’re celebrating with alcohol.
Or call an Uber or Lyft.

8. If you see a drunk or unsafe driver on the road, alert law enforcement.
Call the police. Don’t try to follow them.

9. Call 24/7 Emergency Locksmith if you get locked out

If you find yourself in a lock-out situation call 24/7 Emergency Locksmith at (484) 891-1922 for 24/7 lockout service within the Lehigh Valley.
