Pups Who Just Couldn’t Wait for a Locksmith

When your dog misses you, there’s little that can get between you and their love… unless that thing happens to be a door. Here are five mischievous pooches that simply couldn’t wait another moment to get on the other side of the door.

This stinker just couldn’t handle being away from his owner any longer. Now if only that baby gate wasn’t there…

While one door might not be such an issue, make sure you don’t waste all of your energy on it just in case there’s another right after it.

We’re positive that the only reason this lil lady feels guilty is because she just has no thumbs to turn the knob.

This pup just chewed a little spot to have an extra eye out on everything. Seriously, he’s just trying to make sure everything is secure!

Even when you’re traveling, there is no way an RV door is going to get between your pooch and the adventure that awaits!

In all seriousness, if you find yourself in need of a locksmith, please don’t break your door. That route will just end up with further hastles and expenses. Call us and we’ll get you back inside in a jiffy!

Safe places to keep your key while you jog

When you head out for a walk, the last thing you want to worry about is your key. While it could be tempting in some neighborhoods to just leave the door unlocked, you just never know what could happen. For safety’s sake, it’s best to always lock up before you head out.

Here are a few spot to safely put your house key while you burn those calories.

In a secured part of your clothing:

Many workout clothes already have a build in mini pocket to slip a key. For added measure, we suggest also including a safety pin if the pocket doesn’t have a zipper or snap closure.

In your music player’s holder:

If you go for a run with earbuds in, chances are you have something to hold your phone or MP3 player. Just tuck your key neatly in next to it and your ready to go.

On your dog’s collar:

A carabiner or other secure but easily removable key holder attached to Fido’s collar is a great way to safely stash your key if you don’t have a secure spot on you.

Hide your key in your yard:

If you have a good spot to stash your key, then don’t even worry about bringing it with you. Find a secure spot to hide it away and just discreetly let yourself back in when you’re done. Just make sure you’re not being too obvious.

Don’t use a key at all:

If dealing with a key multiple times a week while you try to get in some exercise is becoming tedious, why not think about installing a keyless lock? You can use a simple keypad or even an app on your phone to gain entryway without even having to deal with where you put a physical key. There are many types that can give you the method you’d prefer.

And if you DO lose your key while out on a jog… just give us a call and we’ll be there to help you regain entry to your home.

Three Reasons Your Door Key May Not Be Turning

If you find yourself in a situation where your front door lock no longer turns with your key, there are a number of reasons this could be happening.

Firstly, it could just be that the lock is gunked up with dust and grime. An outdoor lock is prime for collecting all sorts of tiny things floating around outdoors.

Another reason could be the key itself. If there is any damage, even what looks like minor, it could be causing the key and pins to not align correctly.

Third, there could be interior damage in the lock which is causing the failure.

Whatever the reason, it’s important to fix the issue to assure that the security of your home isn’t compromised, and to minimize the damage before it gets any worse.

So if you find yourself having issues with any lock in your home, we’re here to assess what is going on and take care of the problem!

Does Having Too Much on Your Keychain Hurt Your Car?

Some people barely carry any keys around with them. They have a car, house, and maybe a work and mailbox key, but that’s it.

Some people (like us) have keychains that may have too many keychains on them.

So what? Some of these keychains have sentimental value! One of them is from Disney World! One is a bottle opener we got at Musikfest. I have all of those photos at home. Let’s be honest, most keychains are totally overfilled and it could be hurting your car.

Is this just a myth? Well, let’s check with the experts…Snopes.

Origins: This belief is an ancient one — our oldest print sighting so far dates it to May 1960 when it appeared as the plot of one of the “Gus And The Model Garage” series run in Popular Science.

Unlike the venerable “purse hung from a car’s choke knob causes damage to the automobile” legend, there is a bit of something to the caution against having too many keys on one’s key fob. Say Tom and Ray Magliozzi (Click and Clack of Car Talk fame), “Actually, the answer is that excessive weight CAN damage the ignition switch. We see it most often on Volkswagens, for some reason. But it happens on other cars, too.”

The Magliozzi brothers are quick to point out that what constitutes “excessive weight” on a key ring puts the danger point well past what most folks routinely tote about with them. “If you have seven or eight keys on your key ring, you’re not going to do any damage. The ignition switch can handle that. But if you carry around 20 keys, that’s a fair amount of weight. That constant downward tug on the ignition switch can cause it to wear out prematurely.” – SNOPES

So, it looks like if you have a few extra items on your key ring it isn’t a big deal, but if’ you’re throwing pounds onto your ring and then using that in your vehicle’s ignition, you may want to rethink it!

The Best Lehigh Valley Restaurants To Lock Your Keys In Your Car at This Summer

First off, this article is meant to be a little more lighthearted than some of our others. Of course, we never wish for anyone to lock their keys in their car, however, if you’re going to do so, here are some of the best spots in the Lehigh Valley to lock your keys in your car at!

Sette Luna

This Easton restaurant has some of the best patio seating in the whole Lehigh Valley. Their cuisine isn’t so bad, either.

Porters’ Pub

Also in Easton, Porters’ was voted as the Best Bar in the Lehigh Valley by LehighValleyLive.com. Even though it’s a small pub, it still has some amazing dishes and specials.

The Bayou

We wouldn’t mind spending some extra time at The Bayou in Bethlehem! They have, in our opinion, some of the best fried chicken you’ll find anywhere.

Tapas on Main

Located in downtown Bethlehem, Tapas has some of the most well-populated outdoor seating throughout the spring and summer months.

The Dime

At the center of Allentown, and above the PPL Center, The Dime is one of the most unique spots to dine in the whole Lehigh Valley.

Of course, we don’t actually want you to get locked out at any of these restaurants, however, if you do, please be sure to

Stay Safe in Lehigh Valley Parking Garages

Easton, Bethlehem, and Allentown all have parking decks that take the hassle out of driving around trying to find street parking (most of the time.) And while they do provide a much easier place to park, they are still areas where you should stay vigilant.

Here are a few tips on parking safe in Lehigh Valley parking garages.

1. Remember Where you Park

This is easier now than ever with smartphones being so prevalent. Simply jot down where you parked in a note app or text to yourself, or better yet, take a picture of where you are to make sure you don’t waste time walking around the garage.

2. Pay Attention to Your Surroundings

Don’t text or check your phone as your own the way in or out of a parking garage. You want to make sure you not only remember where you park, but you also want to keep your eyes or ears open for things that may be going on around you, especially at night.

3. Keep Your Keys or Self Defense Device in Hand

While the odds of being attacked in a Lehigh Valley parking garage are statistically slim, you always want to be prepared. Carrying your keys in your hand not only allows you to access your car much easier, but it also gives you a weapon if you need one. This goes the same for any sort of self defense device you may carry with you, such as pepper spray. Those type of devices don’t do much if they are stuck at the bottom of your pocket or purse.

Be safe when you’re out no matter where you park and, as always, contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith if you encounter a lockout situation. We’ll get you back on the road quickly.
