New Year’s resolutions can sometimes be forgotten about before you hit the second weekend of the year. It’s okay, it happens to everyone.

But since you’re already going to set a few resolutions about perhaps eating better or going to the gym more, then why not add a few resolutions that may make your life a little less complicated.

Here are a few lock and key resolutions for you to keep this year!

1. Put your keys in the same spot

Ever wake up on a Monday morning and not be able to find your keys? Not only is it Monday, but you’re already running late. Make a resolution to keep your keys in the spot every time you come home. Perhaps set up a shelf or other area where you can drop or hand your keys as soon as you walk through the door.

2. Give an extra set of keys to a family member or trusted friend

Getting locked out of your house or car can be alleviated by giving a key to someone you trust. If you lose a key, all you have to do is phone a friend. Just don’t lose your phone.

3. Never put your keys down somewhere other than home

If you want to make sure you don’t leave your keys at a friend’s house or while you’re out and about, make it a point to never place your keys anywhere other than your pockets or bag. You don’t want to leave them just anywhere.

4. Always Lock Your Car Doors. Always

There are many safe areas where you might not feel that you need to lock your car doors. Unfortunately, you do. You always need to. If you don’t lock your car doors, expect someone to find them open.

Hey, we love car mods as much as the next guy. But, you have to be sure that you’re still playing within the laws of your state when modding your vehicle. It’s not a matter of if you’ll be pulled over and expected to remove the mods and pay a fine, but more of a matter of when.

Here are a few mods that are more than likely to get you into some hot water.

License Plate Covers

There aren’t any real good reasons to have a license plate cover other than to make sure that people can’t read your license plate. That’s not going to go over well with the local PD.

Extremely Tinted Windows

The level of window tint that is allowed by law is always something people have debate over, but a cop will pretty much let you know right away if it’s too much. Err on the side of caution when it comes to tinting your windows and make sure you’re playing within the rules.

Radar Detectors

While not necessarily a “mod” as much as some of the others, radar detectors are a big “no no” when it comes to keeping one in your car. Be careful.

Extremely Loud Sound Systems

Not everyone wants to hear your latest mixtape, especially if they are two blocks away. Police won’t hesitate to shut down your system if it’s way too loud.

Light Bars

You don’t see these all too often and that’s because they simply aren’t legal. If you have one on your vehicle, it has to be covered when on the roads. A light bar can come in handy if you’re someone who uses their vehicle off local official roads, but for any sort of local use, they are just a no go.
