Dodge Keys and Fobs Replaced On Site
We cut and program keys for most Dodge cars and trucks, and we do it at the vehicle. Ram, Charger, Challenger, Durango, Grand Caravan, Dakota and Neon owners call us regularly. If your make isn’t Dodge, check our full car key replacement page.
Our van stocks the common Dodge keys: chip keys for older models, pod-style fobs for the years that use them, and push-button smart keys for newer ones. Give us the year when you call, because the same model can use a different key from one year to the next.
Losing a key to a work truck or the family van throws off the whole day. We aim to get to you the same day, and the key is made in one visit.
Newer Dodge blades are laser cut, with a track milled into the side. Our high-security cutter handles those, and the programmer in the van pairs the new key to the vehicle.

Lost or Stolen Dodge Keys
All keys lost is a job we do often. We work out the cuts from the vehicle, make the key and program it there. You don’t need the original.
Most Dodges since the late 1990s check a chip in the key before the engine will run. A key cut without programming will turn the ignition and then nothing happens. Programming is what makes it a working key.
If your keys were stolen, we can take them out of the vehicle’s memory during programming. A thief holding the old key can’t drive off with it afterward.
Broken Dodge Keys
Save a snapped or cracked key. Reading the cuts from the old blade is the fastest route to a new one, and it avoids decoding the lock or looking up a code.
A key that turns hard or sticks in the ignition can be a worn key or a worn ignition cylinder. We can tell which once we see it, and we handle ignition repair too.

Three things speed it up: the year and model, the location of the car, and whether you have one working key or none. Then we can go over our pricing structure and check availability right away. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
Dodge Key Questions
What if the new Dodge key stops working?
Parts are guaranteed against factory defects, and our work is guaranteed against faulty craftsmanship.
Could a worn key be why my Dodge won’t start?
It could. Keys wear down and so do ignition cylinders. We test the key first, then the cylinder, and fix whichever one is at fault. Our ignition repair page explains the rest.
Does a Dodge key cost more at night?
No. Our pricing structure is the same during all hours of operation, and there is no additional fee for emergencies.
Which key does my Dodge or Ram take?
Dodge and Ram used the fobik, the fob that pushes into the dash and turns, for most of a decade before moving to a push-button smart key. The pattern for the models we see most:
- Ram 1500: 2009 to 2018, a fobik, with a push-button smart key on 2013 to 2018 trucks that have push-button start. 2019 on, a push-button smart key. The Ram 1500 Classic kept the fobik through 2024. Ram 2500 and 3500 moved to the smart key in 2019 as well.
- Charger and Challenger: 2008 to 2014, a fobik, with a Keyless Go fobik on the upper trims. 2015 on, a smart key.
- Durango: 2011 to 2013, a fobik. 2014 on, a smart key.
- Grand Caravan (2008 to 2020): a fobik with the power-door and liftgate buttons. Journey (2009 to 2020): a fobik, or a push-button smart key on trims with push-button start.
- Dart (2013 to 2016): a remote-head key on the base trims, a smart key on the upper ones.
Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we confirm which one you have on the phone.
See the Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep / Ram rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.
I lost every key to my Dodge or Ram. Can you still make one?
Yes. All-keys-lost on a Dodge or Ram is done at the vehicle, fobik and smart key models included. On the newest model years we confirm on the phone before we drive. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.
Do you program the Ram push-button smart key?
Yes. We carry the smart keys for the 2019 and newer Ram, the Charger, Challenger and Durango and pair them to the vehicle where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you still have a working key.
Does a Dodge or Ram dealer have to make the key?
Almost never. The Dodges and Rams we see every week are done on site, including the 2018 and newer models with the security gateway. We confirm lawful possession of the vehicle as part of the job.
