Mazda Key Replacement Done at Your Car
We cut and program keys for most Mazda models, including the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, CX-9 and MX-5 Miata. The work is done at your car by a mobile locksmith.
If the key is lost, call us before you call a tow truck. Most of the time the car never has to move. Our car key replacement page lists everything we cover.
Mazda keys come in a few forms. Many are a flip key with the remote built in. Newer models use a card-shaped or pod-shaped smart key with push-button start.
The blades on recent Mazdas are laser cut, so they need a high-security cutter. We carry one, along with the programmer that pairs the key’s chip to the car.

Lost or Stolen Mazda Keys
When every key is lost, we make a new one from the car. The cuts come from the lock or the key code. Nearly all Mazdas from the 2000s on have an immobilizer, so the chip is programmed before the car will start.
If a key was stolen, we can erase it during programming. The car then accepts only the keys you have. For the door, rekeying the lock stops the old blade from turning.
Broken Mazda Keys
Flip keys can loosen at the pivot until the blade wobbles or falls out. Keep the blade and the remote. We copy the cuts, and if the remote half still works, a new case may be all you need.
Call (484) 891-1922 and give us the Mazda’s year and model. We’ll confirm the price and that we have the key, then estimate our arrival time. Our service area for Mazda keys is the entire Lehigh Valley. Check the list of towns we serve.

Mazda Models We Make Keys For
We see these Mazda models more than any others. A model that isn’t named here may still be one we cover, so call and ask.
Models
Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, CX-9, CX-3, CX-7, MX-5 Miata, Tribute, Protege, 626, MPV, RX-8 and B-Series pickups.
Before you call
Three things speed it up: the year and model, the location of the car, and whether you have one working key or none. Then we can go over our pricing structure and check availability right away. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
Common Mazda Key Questions
Does a lost Mazda key cost extra as an emergency?
No. There is no additional fee for emergencies, and the price does not change with the day or the hour we are open.
Do you stand behind the Mazda keys you make?
Yes. The parts carry a guarantee against factory defects, and the work is guaranteed against faulty craftsmanship.
Do I have to tow my Mazda3 to a dealer for a key?
No. We cut and program the key where the car is parked, so it stays where it is.
The key goes into my Mazda3 but won’t turn. What now?
Don’t force it. A worn key or a failing ignition cylinder can both cause that, and we can sort out which one it is at the car. More on our ignition repair page.
Which key does my Mazda take?
Mazda made the switch to a push-button smart key across the whole line in the 2013 and 2014 model years, so the year is what matters. The pattern for the Mazdas we see most:
- Mazda3: 2010 to 2013, a flip key with the remote built in. 2014 on, a smart key. The fob changed in 2019 with the new body style.
- Mazda6: 2009 to 2013, a flip key. 2014 on, a smart key.
- CX-5: a smart key on every year, 2013 on. The fob changed in 2017 and again in 2020.
- CX-9: 2007 to 2015, a flip key or smart key depending on trim. 2016 on, a smart key.
- CX-30 and CX-50: a smart key on every trim.
Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we confirm which one you have on the phone.
See the Mazda rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.
I lost every key to my Mazda. Can you still make one?
Yes. All-keys-lost on a Mazda is done at the car, including the smart-key models. On the newest model years we confirm on the phone before we drive. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.
Do you program the Mazda push-button smart key?
Yes. We carry the smart keys for the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5 and CX-9 and register them to the car where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you still have a working key.
