Subaru Key Replacement in the Lehigh Valley
Subarus are everywhere in the Lehigh Valley, and so are lost Subaru keys. We replace car keys for the Outback, Forester, Impreza, Legacy, Crosstrek and WRX at your location. The Subaru key is cut and programmed where the car is parked.
Keys go missing on hikes and on ski trips. Wherever the car is now, that’s where we do the work.
Older Subarus use a simple edge-cut key. Models from the mid-2000s on generally add a chip, and recent ones use a laser-cut blade or a push-button fob.
We carry a standard cutter and a high-security cutter in the van, plus the programmer that pairs the chip or fob to the car.

Lost or Stolen Subaru Keys
If your only key is gone, we make a new one from the car. We get the cuts from the lock or from the key code. On chip-equipped Subarus, the car must learn the new key before it will start.
If the key was stolen, we can remove it from the car’s memory during that step. Rekeying the door locks is an option too, and it keeps the old blade from opening them.
Broken Subaru Keys
A broken key can be copied from the pieces. If the remote buttons are built into the key head and the head cracked, keep it. The working remote may transfer to a new key.
Before we hand over a key, we check a driver’s license and a document tying you to the car. Registration, title or an insurance card all work.
Call (484) 891-1922 with the year, make and model for pricing and availability on your Subaru. Tell us where it’s parked and we’ll give an estimated arrival time. Subaru owners anywhere in the Lehigh Valley can call us. See the towns we cover.

Subaru Models on Our Key List
This is the short list of Subaru models we work on week in and week out. For a different one, tell us the year and model and we’ll look it up.
Models
Outback, Forester, Impreza, Legacy, Crosstrek, WRX, Ascent, Tribeca, Baja and BRZ.
What to have ready
We’ll ask for the year and model, the spot where the car is sitting, and whether any key still works. That is enough to tell you pricing and availability before we drive out. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
Subaru Key Questions
Is a new Subaru key guaranteed?
Yes. Parts are guaranteed against factory defects and our work against faulty craftsmanship.
The key goes into my Subaru Outback but won’t turn. What now?
Don’t force it. A worn key or a failing ignition cylinder can both cause that, and we can sort out which one it is at the car. More on our ignition repair page.
Do you charge extra for after-hours Subaru key calls?
No. The same pricing structure applies during all hours of operation.
Which key does my Subaru take?
Subaru kept a remote-head key on its base trims longer than most, and put the push-button smart key on Limited and Touring first. The pattern for the Subarus we see most:
- Outback and Legacy: 2010 to 2019, base and Premium use a remote-head key; the 2013 and 2014 Limited with push-button start and the 2015 to 2019 Limited and Touring use a smart key. 2020 on, a smart key.
- Forester: 2009 to 2018, base and Premium use a remote-head key (some 2009 to 2013 cars have a chip key with a separate remote); Limited and Touring use a smart key from 2014. 2019 on, a smart key.
- Impreza and Crosstrek: 2012 to 2017, a remote-head key. 2018 on, Limited uses a smart key and the base trims keep the remote-head key.
- WRX (2015 to 2021): a remote-head key, with a smart key on the Limited.
- Ascent: a smart key on every trim.
Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we confirm which one you have on the phone.
See the Subaru rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.
I lost every key to my Subaru. Can you still make one?
Yes. All-keys-lost on a Subaru is done at the car, including the smart-key models. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.
Do you program the Subaru push-button smart key?
Yes. We carry the smart keys for the Outback, Legacy, Forester, Crosstrek and Ascent and register them to the car where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you still have a working key.
Does a Subaru dealer have to make the key?
No. Subaru is one of the makes we handle completely on site. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
