This post isn’t meant to alarm you, in fact, it is meant to give you more information about what you can do to make your home more safe. So, as you read along, don’t be discouraged, be excited that you can start to change something right away.

Your Front Door

Believe it or not, the front door is the most popular entry location for burglars. Unfortunately, you’re not the only one who leaves their door open at night and that’s not a good sign. Start your home safety revamp by taking a look at that front door and securing it either by locking it each night, or upping your security system game.

Your Trash

Did you get a new 65 inch TV? Why not let the whole neighborhood (and potential burglars) know by putting the box out on the curb. While this seems a bit silly, it’s definitely a billboard to those who also want a 65 inch TV but didn’t want to pay for it. Cut that box up before you put it out to get taken away.

Your Neighborhood

Burglars tend to target more upscale and new developments. That doesn’t mean that you won’t be targeted if you don’t live in one of those areas, however. Burglars also tend to NOT target homes that are in well-lit or conspicuous areas. If you’re able to better light your house from the outside, go for it. Also, it’s a good idea to know your neighbors, or at least those that are immediately next to you. They may see things you don’t see and having better communication with them can only help you both monitor your neighborhood.

We’ll give some more tips in the future, but these are perfect to get you started on better securing your home.

For anyone who is getting a little up there in age, remembering things can sometimes become an issue. Whether it’s your child’s doctors appointment or where you put your keys, you can easily start forgetting things even at a young age.

A way to combat this is through diet. Here are a few foods that can help you maintain your memory!

Fatty Fish

“Fatty fish” includes salmon, trout and sardines, which are all rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

About 60% of your brain is made of fat, and half of that fat is the omega-3 kind. Your brain uses omega-3s to build brain and nerve cells, and these fats are essential for learning and memory.

Coffee

Addicted to your morning drink? That may not be a bad thing when it comes to your memory. Caffeine has a number of positive effects including increased alertness, improved mood, and sharpened concentration.

Blueberries

Blueberries deliver anthocyanins, a group of plant compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Broccoli

Did your mom try to get you to eat your broccoli? Well, she was pretty smart. Broccoli is packed with antioxidants, vitamin K, and is essential for forming sphingolipids, a type of fat that’s densely packed into brain cells.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate and cocoa powder are packed with a few brain-boosting compounds, including flavonoids, caffeine and antioxidants.

Now, just eat these all day long!

Hey, as far as video games go, locksmithing may not be at the top of the professions that would normally have a game created around it. Sure, the act of picking locks is seen in so many games now that it’s become ubiquitous, which is always fun for us, but the hope of ever having a game ONLY about locksmithing is probably a pipe dream at this point.

With that in mind, it was pretty difficult to find a game about locksmithing that ever existed, but we were successful!

in 1991, Sachen released the game “Locksmith” which we have unfortunately never played. Luckily, through the magic of the internet, we were able to take a look at the gameplay and, well, we have to say that it was a little underwhelming.

The narrator in the video, which you can watch by clicking on the picture below, takes us through the life of a locksmith… in what looks like the olden days. We start out fighting some sort of officer and then make our way to figuring out puzzles to pick locks, which is actually kind of fun.

We don’t necessarily need to ever play this game, but it’s fun to know that it exists! Click the pic to watch.
