Honda Key Replacement at Your Car
Top Rated Nationally, But Local To You
Civic, Accord, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey. Honda keys are among the ones we make most, and we make them at your car. The van carries Honda blanks, remote head keys and smart fobs, plus the machines to cut and program them. Our car key replacement page covers other makes.
A lost Honda key doesn’t have to mean a tow to the dealer. Call us with the year and model, and a locksmith comes to you with the right key.
Hondas from the early 2000s on mostly use a laser-cut key. Instead of teeth on the edges, it has a wavy groove milled into each face of the blade. That cut takes a high-security machine. Newer Hondas with push-button start use a smart fob, which we also program.

Lost or Stolen Honda Keys
Most Hondas since the late 1990s have an immobilizer, and a green key light on the dash blinks when the car doesn’t recognize the key. If you’ve lost every key, we cut a new one from the lock or the key code and program its chip so that light goes out and the engine starts.
If a key was stolen, we can clear the car’s key memory and program only the keys you hold. The stolen key won’t start the car after that. For the doors, we can rekey the locks so the old blade stops turning.
Broken Honda Keys
Honda keys with the remote built into the head often crack around the blade. Keep the pieces. We copy the cuts from the old blade, and if the remote still works we can talk about moving it to a new case. See our key fob page for remote problems.

Honda Key Questions
Is a new Honda key guaranteed?
Yes. Parts are guaranteed against factory defects and our work against faulty craftsmanship.
The key goes into my Honda Civic but won’t turn. What now?
Don’t force it. A worn key or a failing ignition cylinder can both cause that, and we can sort out which one it is at the car. More on our ignition repair page.
Do you charge extra for after-hours Honda key calls?
No. The same pricing structure applies during all hours of operation.
Which key does my Honda take?
It depends on the model, the year and often the trim. The pattern for the Hondas we see most:
- Accord: 2003 to 2012, a chip key or remote-head key. 2013 to 2017, LX and Sport use a remote-head key; EX, EX-L and Touring use a push-button smart key. 2018 on, a smart key on every trim.
- Civic: 2006 to 2013, a chip key or remote-head key. 2014 to 2021, LX uses a remote-head key while EX and above use a smart key. 2022 on, a smart key on most trims.
- CR-V: 2007 to 2014, a remote-head key. 2015 and 2016, EX and up moved to a smart key. 2017 to 2022, LX keeps the remote-head key, EX and up use a smart key. 2023 on, a smart key.
- Odyssey: 2005 to 2013, a remote-head key with the power-door buttons. 2014 to 2017, Touring uses a smart key. 2018 on, a smart key on every trim.
- Pilot: 2009 to 2015, a remote-head key. 2016 on, a smart key.
- Fit and HR-V: LX trims use a remote-head key, EX and above use a smart key.
Not sure which one you have? Give us the year, model and trim, or the VIN, and we tell you on the phone.
See the Honda rows on our key chart for key type, chip, FCC ID and part numbers by year, model and trim.
I lost every key to my Honda. Can you still make one?
Yes. All-keys-lost on a Honda is done at the car. Older models get a new key cut and programmed, and the push-button models get a new smart key registered to the car. Car keys are weekday work; call with the year, model and trim for pricing and availability.
Do you program the Honda push-button smart key?
Yes. We carry the smart keys for the Accord, Civic, CR-V, Odyssey and Pilot and register them to the car where it sits. A spare takes a few minutes if you have a working key with you.
Does a Honda dealer have to make the key?
No. Honda is one of the makes we handle completely on site, including the smart-key models. We confirm lawful possession of the car as part of the job.
