You don’t need a high tech security system, which is what most people think. By implementing some of these small tips and tricks you can enjoy that nice sea breeze knowing your house is safe and sound.

STOP NEWSPAPER DELIVERY AND HOLD MAIL
One of the most obvious signs that someone is out of town is when their mail and newspapers begin to pile up. If you stop deliveries or have someone else pick them up for you your house won’t stick out, it’ll just be another house on the block.

SET TIMERS ON YOUR LIGHTS
Another thing a burglar will be looking for is whether or not there are lights on in the house for a few days. A way to avoid keeping your lights on the whole time you are on vacation is to set up a few timers. Have them in some main rooms of the house, kitchen, livening room, and maybe a bedroom and voila it looks like someone is home at night!

DON’T POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
I know I know, everyone is always very eager to let everyone on Facebook and Twitter know the exciting place they are going on vacation. However, when you let your friends and family know where you’re going you also let all the burglars and thieves of the world know too. Just wait until you get back and post all your pictures from the comfort and security of your living room couch.
